About

Thin pigment beds were laid on a slanted axis, then wide scrapers were dragged across them at an angle to it. What shows is residue: terraces of exposed bed stepping down and back up across the width of each pass, grained intact surface between them, and, where the two deepest passes cross, the ground that lies under every bed. The passes run oblique to the beds and to every edge.
