The Deepening Fold

One band of constant width folds across the near-black square in right-angled turns, travelling from the upper-left toward the lower-right. Broad red sweeps hold the upper-left half; the fold tightens through a narrow band of magenta and violet along the diagonal and ends as a dense blue weave filling the lower-right quadrant and climbing the right and bottom edges. At each hand-off, wider turns step into the finer region, so the four scales overlap in ragged fringes of elbows.
