Stubborn Residue

Crossing strokes cover the square, then a lift takes what it can. Three families of short strokes, cyan, yellow and orange, run in three directions and cross. A fourth family, the same short stroke in red, is laid in a wandering band that passes through the upper left, thicker where the strokes stack. The lift starts in that upper-left region, off center, and takes a pixel more readily where fewer strokes claim it. The dark bay is what the lift clears. Along the bay's edge, and reaching into it, red and orange strokes remain where claims stacked, as islands and broken attachments rather than a cut outline. The ground is black. The strokes are cyan, yellow, orange and red, each a single unmixed swatch.
